Pastor Joyce and Rich WebbPastor Joyce and Rich Webb

I’m Pastor Joyce Webb. I arrived at Centennial UMC in July 2022, after spending eight years serving a two-point charge at Coon Rapids-First and Scranton United Methodist Churches in north central Iowa. Before that I was a bi-vocational pastor at Peoria United Methodist Church, a small rural church outside of Maxwell.
I'm married to Rich and we have two adult children and three grandchildren. My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my grandkids. It's true that being a grandparent is one of God's greatest blessings. Some of my other favorite things are reading, cooking, listening to Christian music, fishing, golf, crossword puzzles and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
I grew up in a big family in Sioux City, and attended the University of Iowa, where I received my bachelors and master’s degrees. In 1984, Rich and I moved to the Des Moines area where I spent 25 years as a mortgage banker. But then God called me down a different career path that included seminary, a Master of Divinity and ordination as an elder in the United Methodist Church.
Theologically, I see myself as a moderate who tries to keep Jesus at the center. In discipleship, my personal mission statement is to follow Jesus in loving the world, so the world will love him too. I understand the Church to be the Body of Christ in the world. A place where God’s people are growing in their personal relationship with God and are sent out into the community to share the love and grace of God with others. As pastor, my primary role is to support and encourage ministry leaders, as they cast a vision for the future and create opportunities for ministry and mission inside and outside the church.
If you’re looking for a church home, I hope you’ll check out Centennial UMC at Ivy. You’ll find a warm, open, welcoming congregation.
If you have questions, please feel free to get in touch with me. I would love to chat with you about the church!
Be well and be blessed,

Pastor Joyce
